Reports reaching us has it that there was was an Earthquake early on Monday morning which occurred in Afghanistan leaving over 200 people dead, properties lost while numerous others have also been displaced and homeless.
According to our source, the Earthquake occurred at a remote Afghan northeast of Pakistan while sending what I may describe as a "ripple effects" or shock waves as far as New Delhi in India.
The impact of the disaster was enormous as experts are afraid that the death toll could rise in the coming days especially in such areas as Hindu Kush Mountain which prior to the time of the quake experienced a totally bad communication network as she became the circumference where the quake was centred.
Our correspondent also gathered that in one of the incidents, nothing less than 12 girls were killed in a stampede in an attempt to flee their school building in the northeastern Afghan province of Takhar, just west of Badakhshan province where the tremor's epicentre was located.
Geographers and experts argue that the quake is 213km deep and centred 254km northeast of Kabul in Badakhshan province. While the US Geological Survey initially measured the magnitude of the quake to be 7.7, but later revised it down to 7.5.
It would be recalled that just over a decade ago, a 7.6 magnitude quake in another part of northern Pakistan killed about 75,000 people.
We cannot but wonder why our World is being bedeviled and under attack by such natural disasters. In the same vein, we are keen to ask : What becomes the fate of Humanity seeing she is fast tending towards doom and the complete annihilation from the biosphere without her consent?
