Dr (Mrs) Inyang Asibong, the Honourable Commissioner of Health Cross River State is a very exceptional woman. An astute leader, seasoned technocrat in the world of health. No wonder Professor Ben Ayade saw something in her and decided to engaged her in rebranding and re-modelling of the health sector in the state.

Dr Asibong, is in her late 30's and she's one of the youngest commissioners appointed by the Executive Governor of Cross River State. A nurse in making, from Nursing to her present position.

Apart from her technicality in the health sector. Dr. Asibong is humble. My first meeting with her was so memorable, I took time to study her and watch the way she interact with staffs and aides. The one that quite impacted me was when she came out from her office to sign acceptance letters of newly posted National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) members to her parastatal.

Most commissioners can't subdue themselves to that extent of attending to Corpers.

She runs an outdoor policy. No protocol to see her, no filling of forms to see her. I remember how I filled a form to see a particular Permanent Secretary in one parastatal months back.

She placed her self to a certain esteem that will enable her deliver to the state. So far Mma, as she is fondly called by her staff has met with several health organizations and NGO's. Most notably Family Health International (FHI).

Mma is the most media friendly commissioner so far since her inauguration. I watch, read and follow her thread on social media live in all her programmes in the ministry.

I have no iota of doubt that Mma will be the best commissioner in Gov. Ben Ayade's cabinet by the middle of next year. I have personally forwarded her name to the headquarters of West African Students Union in Ghana for strict monitoring of her programmes for the newly introduced award of excellence to be given to the best three commissioners in Nigeria (WASU-Nigeria Category awards).

I'm very sure she will not disappoint me and us.

God bless her diligent work so far in  the Cross River Ministry of Health.
