The member representing Ogoja State Constituency, Hon Peter Odey, has commiserated with the victims of Ikom fire disaster that destroyed over 40 shops at the Ikom market.
Hon Odey expressed great shock over the fire disaster and called on the management of markets across the State to always employ modern means of preventing and combating fire disasters to ensure that traders are not put to untold hardship and loss.
He further said the fire incident have deprived the traders of their source of livelihood and survival as breadwinners of their families.
He also called on the State government to immediately carry out a needs assessment of the fire disaster and work towards preventing future recurrence.
