Mr Ofem Ekapong Ofem is the Managing Director of SmartCity Lagos Limited. Last week, SmartCity Lagos Limited on behalf of Lagos State signed an agreement with SmartCity Dubai LLC in view of demonstrating their commitment towards fast tracking the delivery of 'Africa's first carbon neutral  intelligent city on an area measuring about 113million Square meters of Land on the fastest growing real Estate corridor in Africa-The Lekki Corridor'.

According to Mr Ofem, a new international airport, railway and road system will be built and connected to the SmartCity. Below is an excerpt of what Mr Ofem said concerning the project which he claims 'will be the envy of the rest of the world':

Today we made a giant leap in our continuing quest to build for Africa a SmartCity that will be the envy of the rest of the world.

SmartCity Lagos Limited will deliver Africa's first carbon neutral  intelligent city on an area measuring about 113million Square meters of Land on the fastest growing real Estate corridor in Africa-The Lekki Corridor.

As we move to the next phase of planning the city as well as developing and delivering a new international airport, a rail and road system to connect the city to Lagos and the rest of the world we remain firm and resolute in our commitment to be private sector catalysts for driving the development of the African continent.

We thank our partners SmartCity Dubai LLC for their support and commitment.

If we recall Negroidhaven.org had reported that the Commissioner for ICT, Cross River State, Chief Offu Aya, had paid a visit to China in respect of actualising the SmartCity vision of HE Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade, the Executive Governor of Cross River State.
