In a recent solidarity visit to the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Calabar, Professor Zana I. Akpagu, where a handful of students activists escorted the Students Union Government (SUG) President of the University of Calabar, Comr. Daniel Eno, to the office of the VC, it is reported by a campus based social media news retail firm, Campus Watch, that the SUG President said: 'the days of students riots and demonstrations were effectively over'.

In fact, the students were reported to carry placards in which were such inscriptions as: 'Prof. Zana Akpagu we love you, we stand by you, you are a father ', 'UNICAL is experiencing peace and change'.

While we commend the initiative of President Eno in willing to put an end to students riots, we want to believe that he will engage in policies that will not provoke students to such extremes. However, what Negroidhaven.org is yet to learn is whether the students Union leader is criminalising all forms of demonstrations. What about peaceful demonstrations like the type embarked upon by the immediate past president of the Union, Comr. Ekpo Tete? Where they bad?

This press outfit wishes to believe that the body language of Eno is not such that will align absolutely with the establishment to the ultimate disregard of students welfare. This press outfit has also learnt that Prof. Akpagu is 'a good man': this is on the authority of the former President Tete.

To our Comrade President, our eyes are on you. Carry Malabites and Malabresses along!
