May be the Canadian Model School will be at Ugep. I think we don't need another school if we can not fund the existing schools in the state.

Erstwhile Chief of General Staff to Liyel Imoke
June 2016.

The above statement is attributed to the erstwhile Chief of General Staff to former Governor Liyel Imoke.

It was made in reaction to the lament Cross River-born, Canadian-based academic and politician Obasesam Okoi made over the failure of Cross River Governor Ben Ayade to fix the Institute of Technology Management, Ugep but hypocritically going to Canada to sign an MoU with the Canadian Government for educational purposes.

Meanwhile, the Honourable Commissioner for Education, Mr Goddy Ettah, has informed that 'This MoU is to enable the takeoff of a Canadian International school to provide learning facilities for primary, secondary and a tertiary institution in Calabar. By July 16, 2016, the technical team including architects from Canada will be in the state to give muscle to the MoU that has been signed as they will commence the need assessment process for a suitable site for the school'. He earlier on made the point that the partnership is anticipated to impact Cross River primary, secondary and tertiary educational system.

Do you think Cross River need a Canadian school when our public schools are rotting and seeking attention without hope of any intervention?
