During the official breaking of the Ramadan Fast on Wednesday 29 June, His Excellency the Executive President of Nigeria met with front line traditional rulers in the country.

However, Negroid Haven reliably garnered that the Natural Ruler, Treaty King and Obong of Calabar, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V was absent. Instead the information reaching us suggest that the Paramount Ruler of Bakassi and Chair of Traditional Rulers Council in the state, His Royal Majesty Etim Edet was present at Aso Rock.

Efforts to know why the Obong of Calabar was absent at the meeting has proved abortive.

There are about 10 first class traditional rulers officially gazetted by the Federal Government and they include:

1. Sultan of Sokoto
2. Ooni of Ife
3. Emir of Kano
4. Oba of Lagos
5. Oba of Benin
6. Obi of Onitsha
7. Shehu of Borno
8. Olubadan of Ibadan
9. Obong of Calabar
10. Olu of Warri.

The Paramount Ruler of Bakassi doesn't fit into this picture. Was the Chair of Cross River State Traditional Rulers Council, HRM Etim Edet representing the Obong of Calabar? If the response is in the affirmative, the collolary is why?
