CRSG charges UN to expand scope of health programs in the state

Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (CRSPHCDA) was yesterday represented at the United Nation Development Assistance Framework (UNDAF) IV Consultative meeting on capturing the development aspiration of the region and obtaining views from key stakeholders on their developmental priorities and preferences for inclusion into Nigeria Common Country Analysis.

Speaking to online journalists, Dr Betta Edu lauded the UN family for selecting Cross River State as the first point of call in these regional consultative meeting to engage the stakeholders on developmental strides especially in health sector were she hopes the United Nation family will expand their scope of work to accommodate more health programs in the state.

"As you can see, the state Governor on assumption of office ordered for the immediate revitalization of primary healthcare in the state were we have so far achieved a lot starting from creation of primary healthcare development agency, refurbishment of some PHC's under the one functional health center per ward policy of the state in line with the FG resolution to embark on the program across the country.

She further tasked the UN on robust approach to health service integration, PMTCT, maternal and child care, etc. Urging them to increase their funding and consideration of Cross River State such that we are number one beneficiary due to poor federal allocation. She said the state Governor Sen. Prof  Ben Ayade is happy to host the first UN FAMILY Consultative meeting in Nigeria while praying for the success of the program.

Earlier speaking the representative of UN system in Nigeria Mr Adonri Osaretin said the essence of the zonal consultation is to gather specific regional issues, concerns and peculiar priorities of the region. He said Calabar was selected to host the first consultative meeting given the excellent relation of the state and UN.

Present at the meeting was representatives of State Min.Of Health, CRSPHCDA, Min. Of Agriculture, WHO, CUSO, SDG, Civil society groups, State Budget office, Ministry of international donors, Sustainable Development and Women affairs etc.
