Today, on behalf of my family and the entire health sector in Cross River State, I salute Nigeria at 56th Independence day.

I also pay my respect and honor to those patriots who laid their lives for the country independence, what they did, we can't repay.

No country is perfect and no leader is perfect, we only need to be made perfect. It is time to take a solemn pledge as a person, individuals, families and communities to refine and rebuild the National character to dedicate ourselves to keep the Spirit of our fallen heroes glowing within us.

On this day, we are grateful for the privilege of providing high quality health care to the residents of the state, with integrity and accountability being our values, we have the obligation to do more.

Under the State Ministry of Health, the Ayade Administration has within the period achieved much, His Excellency Senator Prof Benedict Ayade has commissioned General Hospital/Cottage Hospital at Obudu, commissioned functional Primary Health Care Centers in almost all the local government areas of the state, creation of Cross River Primary Health Care Development Agency where health care can be delivered at the grassroot, establishment of Vesico-Vaginal Fistula units in all the Senatorial districts of the state, Revision of the Strategic Health Development Plan – CRSSHDP 2016-2020, strengthening of clinical governance, signing into law State Health Insurance Scheme tagged 'Ayade Care', regaining accreditation of School of Nursings and Midwifery in Calabar, Ogoja and Ikom among many of his achievements.

Let us at this moment reflect on the true meaning of citizenship, Arise, serve our father's land where peace and justice shall reign.

Long live Nigeria…
Long live Cross River State…
Long live their Excellencies…
Long live Ministry of Health…

Dr (Mrs) Inyang Asibong.
Commissioner for Health, CRS.
