A Speech Presented On The 30th of September, 2016 To A Delegation Of The National Association Of Cross River State Students And Other Cross River Students During Their Solidarity Visit To My Office On The Recent Political Happening In The State (The Joe Vs Ayade Legal Tussle)

Sen Prof Ayade Benedict simplicity, good heart and humility should not be over stretched. We have heard and we have seen and we have been part of how it was and is now and how it will be in Cross River State.

Never in the history of our state has a man with noble intention for pure service, who has shown same by action been this ridiculed and maligned, castigated and defamed as seen by unrelenting power mongers and strife generators and hate campaign specialists.

A time is coming when we will act and I hope that those applauding now will face and stand the tune of their own sorcery and seeds of discord? Ayade is globally respected based on his personality even before his emergence in the political sphere and as the face and image of Cross River State he should at least have our respect.

Our custom and traditional system teaches us to respect elders and one another, she teaches us support for one another and acceptance of one another in love even when correcting our flaws. The truth is Ayade is not perfect but in his evolution of noble dreams he should be encouraged rather than been literarily lynched.

Just a glimpse of the kind of politics we play in our state can be seen in the launch of the superhighway project. Naysayers kicked against it including some front APC agents in the state and the national but when the president endorsed it,these same propaganda specialists occupied the front role of the said event.

Now in terms of Liyel Imoke's ordeal the idea of the spot cut out from Cultural Center for the current SPAR-Calabar Shopping Mall was attacked etc but today these same attackers daily praise and patronize the outfit….Cross River for you I guess….

The political scene currently playing out today in our state was forecasted by some of us and secretly yet succinctly we have also made attempts to make things better and indeed things will naturally align. As a people we have to live beyond the "bring him down syndrome" ;that evil spirit that says if not me it must not be him or he/she is growing too fast and must be stopped…Gossips and blackmail etc.

I conclude by saying that Ayade and all of us are humans and as humans we are not perfect and our imperfections are worked on daily. I strongly believe Ayade has good hope and plans for the state and will address pressing areas/issues not addressed soon but he can and will never do it alone and therefore we must stand up and support him to succeed.

We must rise and mobilize against individuals, groups, gang up in the high and low against Ayade and those against our collective good and this we must do spiritually, politically, socially, economically and collectively. We must always rise up and condemn and oppose oppression even upon the mighty as much as we will against the lowly. We have scaled through the election tribunal, the high court, the appeal court and we do not doubt the leadership and wig experience of Justice Bode Rhodes.

We have no fear and send the message out that we know that we will be justified and our Governor has all the requirement to be Governor and by God's grace will remain so now will, just like he has hold on the people mandate/support till 2023.Let US individually send the message across boards and march on for this generation and the future generation.

Ayade remains popular and has the prayers and support of majority of Cross Riverians and interestingly their ploy to stain the Govenor's name has won him more love and sympathy. Thanks for your support and keep praying for us. Be rest assured that God is with us and if God is for us who will be against us?
