NegroidHaven can authoritatively inform that the Greater Calabar City Development Authority is poised to deliver on the mandate that necessitated its recent constitution by His Excellency the Governor of Cross River State, Mr Ben Ayade.
Yesterday 30th December the Board of the said state government agency as led by Mr Kingsley Ita Ikpeme met and deliberated on modalities of translating the vision of the state governor, which inspired the creation of the agency, into concrete realities for the benefit of the citizenry of the Cross River State.
In an address to newsmen in the state capital, Calabar Director General Ikpeme said that he has convened his board with the primary intention of brainstorming on the measures by which they will deliver on the policy of the Governor especially in the areas of infrastructural development.
‘Despite the recession and its negative toll on the state economy, I am still convinced that my board can deliver on the policy of His Excellency the Governor of Cross River State, Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade. While we may still have glaring challenges I and my agency have decided not to be limited by these vicissitudes. I have convened my board to contemplate on how to steer our way through the ups and downs with the masses in view’, he said.
It will be recalled that on 9th June this year the 8th Cross River State House of Assembly passed into law The Greater Calabar City Development Authority Bill as privately sponsored by Rt. Hon. Jones Eteng Williams of Yakurr II State Constituency. This new law envisages the development of new cities in the Southern Senatorial District of the state. On 25th of October, the governor announced the members of the board. This board wishes to consolidate on the gains already made in the direction of new cities development.
The Board is constituted thus:
1. Mr. Philip Oqua —Chair
2. Mr. Kingsley Ita Ikpeme —DG
3. Effiom Nmukpa —Member
4. Arc. Jacob Alang —Member
5. Fidel Agim —Member
6. Mike O. Okpa —Member
7. Paul Edet —Member
Considering that DG Ikpeme has been Executive President of National Association of Cross River State Students Worldwide (NACRISS WW), Chairman, Contact and Mobilisation National Youth Council of Nigeria and Cross River State Representative, Nigerian Youth Parliament, along with Hon. Onofiok Luke of Akwa Ibom State House of Assembly,  it’s believed that he will lead this agency in the right direction.

Besides, he has been a 3-time President of St. Patrick’s College Ikot Ansa Calabar Alumni Association, University of Calabar Chapter, Member Students Welfare Board University of Calabar, has led a team of SEMA and NEMA on a fact finding mission during the communual clash between the people of Eniong in Cross River State and Ikpaiyak in Akwa lbom State, has a  wealth of knowledge and experience, widely travelled and enjoy good relationship with friends across the state and outside. All these experiences should be leveraged upon in his present public role.
