The Cross River State House of Assembly led by Rt. Hon. John Gual Lebo, has as matter of urgent public interest passed the state 2017 Appropriation Bill (Budget) tagged “BUDGET OF INFINITE TRANSITION” into law.
In today’s session, which started at about 10am, had the Chairman of Finance and Appropriation Committee Rt. Hon. Eteng Jones Williams, member representing Yakurr II State Constituency, laying the report before the House. Prior to his presentation, the leader of the House Rt. Hon. Moses Ushie, member representing Obanliku State Constituency moved a motion, praying the Hon. House that the report laid beyond the House be accepted and use as a working document of the House. The motion was seconded by member representing Obubra I State Constituency Hon. Friday Gabriel.
Moreso, Rt. Hon. Eteng Williams in his presentation said, “the 2016 financial year will go down in history as the most challenging in the history of Nigeria as well as Cross River State due to the recessed economy. He expressed optimism that the 2017 budget which came with the Ayadesian theory, which is a fusion of the Keynesian theory (developed by John Maynard Keynes) and the ideas of the famous Scottish economist, Adam Smith will go a long way in creating positive impact on the lives of Cross Riverians.
Eteng in his appraisal of the last financial year in respect to performance and MDA’s achievements recalled that the 2017 budget is an innovative economy engineering. According to him, the budget of Infinite Transposition connotes an unlimited expense and having no boundaries in time and space. And equally implies that issues to be covered are too numerous to be counted.
It is belief that the government and people of Cross River State will breathe a sigh of relief as the budget has been passed into law, knowing too well that it proposes to fund unlimited socio- economic variables that will foster development of the state.
