Eniong will never fail you, political appointee assures principal

The pioneer Director General of Cross River Greater Calabar Capital Development Authority, Comrade Kingsley Ita Ikpeme, has called on the indigenes of a prominent clan among the Efik in Odukpani LGA namely Eniong-Abatim, to support the present political administration of Cross River State as led by Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade NegroidHaven has learnt. The political appointee revealed that the people of Eniong had never had it so good before in terms of consideration and recipients for appointment.
The indigenes of Eniong-Abatim (Efik Eburutu) in Odukpani Local Government Area of Cross River State, held a New Year Get+together and Reunion on the 2nd of January 2017 at the residence of Elder Chief (Dr.) Asuquo Ekpenyong  (OON) the Chairman of Davandy Group of Companies. The event had in attendance Eniong sons and daughters at home and diaspora, drawn from all works of life ranging from political appointees past and present, legislators, PDP excos, academia, professionals, clergy, businessmen/women, youth groups, students and friends.

It featured prayers and thanksgiving to God for taking Eniong thus far. There’s singing of hymns, sumptuous refreshment, dance and traditional display etc.
In his speech the convener Elder Chief Dr Asuquo Ekpenyong (OON) admonished all Eniong sons and daughters to work in one accord to lift the village to high pedestal, and in the spirit of the yuletide, forgive each other, as Christ did for mankind.
Chief Ekpenyong called on all Eniong sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora to support the administration of the Governor of the state, His Excellency Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade for his visionary leadership and people oriented programmes.

Also speaking the PDP Chairman of Eniong ward Mr Edet Maurice thanked Chief Ekpenyong for always having the party at heart and his numerous supports to the PDP family and Eniong race, and pledge the loyalty of the party to the Sen. Prof. Ben Ayade administration.
Also speaking a former president of the National Association of Cross River State Students (NACRISS WW) worldwide, Chairman Contact and Mobilisation of the National Youth Council of Nigeria and the pioneer member of the Nigeria Youth Parliament. Presently the pioneer Director General of Greater Calabar Capital Development Authority, Comrade Kingsley Ita Ikpeme appealed to all Eniong sons and daughters at home and in the diaspora to close rank and support the administration of the Ben Ayade’s led Executive in the state, Comrade Ikpeme said Eniong has never felt this good before in any administration and commended His Excellency Prof. Ayade for the various appointments given to the people, promising that Eniong will never fail him, as history has it that Eniong indigenes are hard working and result oriented.

Comrade Ikpeme thanked Prof. Ayade for having confidence in the leadership of Chief Ekpenyong and cited examples of events in the Yoruba race saying that Bola Tinubu the political leader is of the All Progressives Congress (APC) divide and Mr Fayose governor of Ekiti state is of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP). But during the political tussle, Governor Fayose cautioned all Nigerians not to run down or insult the person of Bola Tinubu, as an insult to Bola Tinubu is an insult to the Yoruba race.
Comrade Ikpeme called on all Eniong indigenes irrespective of party differences, religious beliefs to respect the leadership of Chief Ekpenyong as leaders come from God.
Hence, an insult to Chief Ekpenyong is an insult to the Eniong people born and unborn. He stated that respect is earned citing the various contributions made by Chief Ekpenyong especially the efforts he put in during the invasion of Ntan-Obu village of Eniong in Odukpani LGA of Cross River State by the people of Ikpaiyak in Ibiono Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State on 23rd May 2012, when Chief Asuquo called upon him to accompany the State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) team to ascertain the extent of destruction of lives and property lost and a report forwarded, which led to the fact finding visit of National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) team few days after relieve materials for the displace people of Ntan-Obu in Eniong of Odukpani LGA.

Other speakers at the event where Prof. Robito Ekanem, Chief Weir Ikpeme, Commodore Ekanem (Rtd) Barr. Ekpo Adah, Mr Toni Ikpeme, Prince Ekpo Nya, Chief Edet Asia who was a supporter of Barr. Joe Agi governorship course, pledged his loyalty and support to Chief Ekpenyong as the natural leader of Odukpani local government area and the governor His Excellency Prof. Ayade’s led administration in the state, saying he is happy to be back to the family as politics is over, he thanked the people for keeping faith and accepting him and others who were on the other divide.
High point of the event was the reaffirmation of the conferment of the title of Natural Leader on Chief Ekpenyong by the people of Odukpani LGA and one minute silence in honour of late High Chief Mrs Minika James who was the wife of late High Chief Emmanuel Etim James (Akem-Kem) a national politician, a philanthropist and elder statesman who hails from Eniong Abatim, passed into glory and burial bill for February of 2017.
