A chieftain of the All Progressive Congress, APC, Mr. Odey Ochicha has asked Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade to justify the "millions of naira" he receives every month as security votes.
Ochicha, a governorship candidate of APC in 2015 election who said this in a statement issued by his media office in Calabar added that economic activities have been greatly affected by the increasing security situation in the state.
He faulted the approach of the governments in tackle security in the state adding that Cross River is now more on the news for criminal activities than the hospitable, serene and clean environment it was once known for.
He regretted that Cross River 16 year's legacies were speedily decreasing by the day under Ayade without any hope of urgent solution.
The APC stalwart advised the government to consult with security experts and relevant stakeholders with a view to ending the mindless killings, kidnappings, armed robbery and communal clashes in the state.
According to the statement, "Governor Ben Ayade should justify the security votes he takes out from the state monthly federal allocation because the security situation in the state is getting messier by the day.
"Today, you no longer find palatable stories about Cross River State. Nothing is said about our tourism drive and our once clean environment, instead, you read and hear of daylight robbery, wars, gangsterism, kidnappings and every criminal activity that used to be strange to us and visitors to the state.
"Top government officials are being attacked, kidnapped and robbed. If people that ordinarily should protect the common man are now victims themselves, what then is the hope of the poor and armless masses? This has become unbearable and the government should act NOW. God bless our dear state. God bless Nigeria".
