It was all about sharing the beauty of implementing the State Health Insurance Policy as well as Universal Health Coverage across board at the just concluded State Health Insurance Experience Sharing meeting organized by Nigeria Health Watch in Lafia, the Nassarawa State capital.
The event which had in attendance Health Commissioners and Health care Financing representatives from across the country saw Cross River, Kwara and Kano States being put in the spotlight for successful implementation processes of the State Health Insurance Scheme in their various states.
The State representatives were urged by the organisers to share their success story and give guideline as to how the other states can achieve success as the likes of Rivers, Plateau and Kano States are all working towards their own implementation process.
Speaking during the experience sharing session the Cross River State Commissioner for Health, Dr Inyang Asibong, stated that the Cross River State Health Insurance Scheme will cover more treatment within the State as compared to the Nigerian Health Insurance Scheme. She also highlighted that the choice of the scheme being named Ayadecare after the Governor, Sen Prof Benedict Ayade, is as a  result of His Excellency's commitment towards the actualization of Universal Health Coverage.
In her address the director of Health Care Financing in the Cross River State Ministry of Health, Mrs Lovelyn Eteng hinted that the Cross River State Health Insurance Law drew inspiration from global health policy for attainment of Universal Health Coverage. She also said the scheme is being supported by Health Financing and Governance (HFG) and USAID.
While the Kwara State Health Insurance Scheme is at its implementation state with funding being their major challenge and Kano State Health Insurance Law provides for monetary contribution by enrollees in accordance with their Grade Level, resource mobilization remained the focus of the Cross River State Health Insurance Law.
