… In view of Nigerian Army Day in Calabar, Cross River State capital

Commander of 13 Brigade Nigerian Army, Saturday, led his officers and men to clean up the popular Watt Market and Marian Market in Calabar, Cross River State capital as part of their social activities to celebrate the Nigerian Army day billed on July 6 NegroidHaven can report.
While this gesture is commendable this move has been interpreted among other things to cast the environmental policy of the present state administration led by Senator Ben Ayade in the negative light. For instance, publisher of CRW, Mr Agba Jalingo, said that Ayade ‘has obviously not been able to find the right formula or the right people to deal with the refuse crisis in Calabar.

‘And to think that this is an area we had a niche, where other states were copying from us how to keep their cities clean, before Ayade came to power is even more disheartening’.
