The General Overseer of the Latter Rain Assembly, Pastor Tunde Bakare, has stated categorically that God has instructed him to run for the office of the Presidency.

Laying credence to our source, the Controversial cleric, who prior to this time had sought to occupy the corridors of power, by standing as the running mate to Pres.Buhari on the platform of the defunct Congress for Progressive Change, CPC, during in the 2011 presidential election made the afore statement during the New Year service at his Lagos church.

In his words:

“In my study around 4 a.m. on Sunday morning, God told me ‘you cannot bring your political career to a close; there is still more to do. Run for the presidency. I will do it at the appointed time.”

He alluded to the Biblical Joseph who became a political leader in Egypt without campaigning and running an election.

The Clergy asserted further that although he is not in the know as to when should vy for the position since God didn't reveal that to him. But that the Holy Spirit outrightly asked him not to abandon his political career, but to ensure that he is kept abreast with issues that concern the political climate of Nigeria while he (Pst.Bakare) patiently awaits the appointed time for the fulfilment of the alleged prophecy.

Bakare, who is also convener of the Save Nigeria Group, SNG, said: “This twelfth one is a difficult one for me. It may draw excitement or condemnation. I have tried my best to keep it (to myself) but the Holy Spirit will not allow me to do so.

While he explained that the revelation might prove difficult to actualise, he insisted that he was not perturbed by the challenge, because once God has spoken, it was left for God to make it come to pass.

Do you think the Clergy should be taken seriously? There seems to be so many questions begging for answers… When the Clergy in 2011 became the running mate for the incumbent president, Mohammadu Buhari, was it not the same God to which he alluded, asked him to vy for that position to which he lost out? We cannot stop to wonder when God became a politician. When Religion and Religious beliefs serves as a prerequisite for political statesmanship and not credibility and a servant heart. Come to think of it, when did Politics begin to enjoy a Holy marriage with Religion and Religious faith? Can these two dovetail? Tell us your take.
