In furtherance of activities towards the effective endorsement rally for Cross River State Governor, Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade by a consensus of the Central Senatorial District of the state slated for 23rd February 2018, the Central Planning Committee under the leadership of the Cross River state Speaker of the 8th House of Assembly, Hon. John Gaul Lebo, recently held a press briefing with media practitioners across the State.
Speaking while introducing members of the Central Planning Committee of the Central Unite for Ayade, the Commissioner for Youth and Sports Development and Chairman, Media and Publicity Committee, Comrade Asu Okang stated that for a Governor that has performed superb during the first term, it is only reasonable and expedient to implore His Excellency to seek re-election to complete the infrastructural development and industrialization of the State.
Comrade Okang described the Central Senatorial District as the fulcrum of politics in Cross River state, hence the need for efficient planning and strategising, seen in the brainstorming sessions and meetings of the planning committee, sub committees and other bodies involved in the endorsement rally, while calling on citizens of the Central, to come out en bloc to show their unalloyed support and appreciation to Sen. (Prof.) Ben Ayade.
Addressing pressmen during the press briefing which was aimed at intimating members of the press about the scheduled activities and the need for the endorsement of the Governor held at the Ernest Etim Press Centre, Calabar; the Chairman of the Central Planning Committee. Hon. John Gaul explained that endorsement rally of the Governor by the people of the Central is an appreciation of the good and people oriented governance of Governor Ayade and a call for continuity in his quest to make the State an industrial hub.
Hon. Lebo informed that the adoption and endorsement of Prof. Ben Ayade by the Central people of the State cuts across political, religious, traditional and party lines, stressing that the endorsement is neither a PDP or caucus arrangement but rather a consensus by sons and daughters from the six Local Government Areas of the Central Senatorial District to publicly affirm and appreciate the responsive governance of His Excellency while building the political consciousness of the Governor to seek re-election for continuity, adding that the endorsement will accommodate and create an interface with different groups and political parties, emphasizing that endorsement is not campaigning and does not contravene any electoral laws, describing it as a political whirlwind and a beautiful aspect of Democracy.
Fielding question from journalists, the Minister for Works, Engr. Dane Osim-Asu listed a number of projects in the Central Senatorial District that are on-going and completed ranging from the Boki East and West road to the proposed toothpick industry in Ekori and the referral hospital in Etung through His Excellency are worth commending, adding that these myriad of projects and renovation of schools across the Central are pointers to the fact that Governor Ayade needs to be endorsed for a second term.
On his Part, Hon. Hillary Bisong, member Representing Boki II informed that it is natural to appreciate what somebody has done which is what the Central intends to do through celebrating the Governor for his purposeful leadership.
