A constituent by name Mr Edem Bassey has asked the distinguished Senator representing Cross River Southern Senatorial District at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria to embark on penance NegroidHaven can report.
Bassey made this assertion recently on social media when he compared Senator Gershom Bassey with fellow first time All Progressives Congress (APC) lawmaker representing Oyo Northern Senatorial District at the Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Buhari Abdulfatai and the latter’s 2nd Empowerment Programme.
Constituent Bassey who alleged that Senator Bassey would rather die than be of assistance to anyone charged the lawmaker to embark on penance to save himself from what he referred to as stinginess.
According to the concerned constituent, ‘You can only give that which is inherent in you: “The ability to be EMPATHETIC and GIVING, is in itself a DIVINE GIFT from God – unfortunately, Gershom Bassey does not have it and would rather DIE, than go out of his way to assist ANYONE in need.
‘Senator Gershom Bassey, should embark on divine penance during this HOLY season of LENT, for God to have Mercy on his “stingy & lost soul” and liberate him from the BONDAGE of stingyness’.

When our correspondent contacted an aide to the accused lawmaker, Mr George Offem, he denied that Sen. Bassey is stingy; Offem explained that constituents were insatiable.
According to him, ‘The issue that people have with his style is that he won’t give the cash when you ask him neither will he sometimes give you as much as you anticipated hence based on the characteristic insatiable attitude of our people they will complain of the thing they didn’t get and forget to praise him or be grateful for the small one they got’.
‘Good morning, I have worked with senator for about 4 years now and will not agree that he is stingy…This is a man that believes and actually acts it out by opening doors for you…
This is a man that has given out over 234 million in various aids to individuals and associations (ask me when we me and I’ll show you the names, and varied amounts) since June 2015 to date…
This is a man that never wants us to record all that…This is a man that vigorously fights to draw good projects to his constituency and state…He single handle working now to restore some of our lost oil wells.

Senator Gershom Bassey of Cross River South has been under intense diatribe from a section of his constituents over one or two issues that doesn’t go down with them, the recent being the phone number littered on billboards across the seven LGAs that constitutes the southern senatorial of Cross River state.
I feel for him, Hmmm! N5 million is at stake oooo.
