The apology of the Peoples Democratic Patty(PDP)'s National Chairman on behalf of the Party to Nigerians for its 16 years of misrule at the National level is comical and distasteful to say the least.
The party is seeking forgiveness so that they can return to power saying they have learnt their lessons. If PDP really means to atone for its years of supervising the looting of the nations treasury, impunity in the conduct of its affairs, the constant manipulation of the electorates and rigging to stay in power among several other crimes they committed to bring the economy of the nation down just before their departure, then the party must pledge to stay off national politics for a minimum of sixteen years after which Nigerians may decide if they are then well packaged or reinvented to be trusted again with national governance.
Each day that passes after PDP lost the 2015 election, I keep getting reasons to be proud of my one vote I casted against the rule of the PDP in the country. The present shameful predicament befalling the PDP is sure to befall any political party that gangs up to take Nigerians for granted. For now let the PDP still count their gains that Nigerians have allowed them remain a political party without proper atonement especially where they still parade persons of questionable character in elected positions.
For now if they are hoping to recapture the Federal Government with this lame apology then they should think again. What could help rebrand the party is for them to start expelling corrupt members and desperately seek for new members that have integrity and a proven track record of selfless commitment to public service.
God bless Nigeria.
