Sequel to the protracted blackout in Ekpri Otubong, Bakassi Resettlement Camp for two and half years owing to the destruction of distribution equipment, Cross River state House of Assembly has intervened to find lasting solution to the power supply challenge.
In the plenary held earlier this week, Hon. Ekpo Ekpo Bassey, member representing Bakassi State Constituency moved motion calling on the State Electrification Agency and Port Harcourt Electricity Company to as a matter of urgency rehabilitate the power distribution equipment in the area. The motion was seconded by Hon. Peter Odey, member representing Ogoja state constituency.
After exhaustive contributions from Honourable Members on the floor of the house, it was resolved thus:
CRS Electrification Agency and Port Harcourt Electricity Company should appear before the House Committee on Public Utilities to offer full explanations for non availability of electricity in Ekpri Obutong, Bakassi  resettlement Camp.
The Speaker of CRSHA, Rt. Hon .John Gaul Lebo directed the clerk of the House, Barr. Bassey Ekpenyong to write and invite SEA and PHCN to appear for public explanation as soon as possible.
