Director General of Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency (CRSPHCDA), Dr Betta Edu, has replied Mr Simon Utsu, the Nigerian social commentator who faulted her and Mr Emmanuel Etim, the Senior Special Assistant (SSA) on Knowledge and Creative Economy to the Governor of Cross River State over identifying with Mr Omoyele Sowore, a presidential hopeful and founder of SaharaReporters NegroidHaven can say. Similarly, a burgeoning public affairs analyst, Miss Modlin Odu, has replied Utsu.
Dr Edu who expressed shock at Utsu's commentary argued that while she admires the gut of Mr Sowore, she's not supporting him for personal reasons. While adding that she would do what she did for any young person running for public office, she said that she doesn't play politics with bitterness.
According to her, 'Did you really write this Simon Utsu….waooo…Interesting…well just to put the records straight, Governor Ayade is my Super Boss and a great one at that, who believes strongly in the youth… We don't play politics with bitterness. We receive everyone with a free mind, while sticking to our principles.
'Beyond that I like the guts and audacity of the young man choosing to run for president against his grand father Buhari. While I do not support Sowore as a person for some personal reasons, I strongly feel he should go on… I didn't attend any of his event but I took time out to see him and encourage him. I will do so for every young person who runs for a political office, whether they are my candidate or not!
'He may never get there but I strongly believe he is paying a price for other young people in future to run and win the presidency on a platter of gold. Politics is not everything… am sure someday in this country, We will rise above party lines to salvage our nation'.
Earlier, an emerging public affairs analyst, Miss Modlin Odu did reply Utsu. While disagreeing with the latter, she reinforced the politics with ethics metaphor (or should I say Edu reinforced her) of Dr Edu noting that PDP isn't a hostile political party. She made this remark in a thread titled, 'An Unbiased Point of View to the Allegation of Insubordination of named Appointeesby one Mr Simon Utsu' where she deposited that Utsu's position was a blunder of perception and fallacy of hasty non factual conclusion being born out of badblood and needless misplaced hostility towards an intended good will.
Her statements reads in part, 'Aside from their fundamental human right of association, being in a PDP government doesn't mean one should be hostile towards friendly opponents (unverified). You play your game, I play mine= Politics with Ethics. Again, is there any long established relationship between these people? As appointees, I am aware of their participation in CRS Emerging Youth Leadership Forum which is completely non-partisan.
'PDP is not a dictatorial political party, harsh lashes and slaughtering pen of criticism prevails at every "good morning exchange". No! Dr Betta Edu is one of the most visibly hard working appointees of Ayade led government, she in her little office have exalted the governor's performance in matters of primary Health care.
'Their open display of hospitality with Mr Omoyele Sowore which Utsu termed "needless exuberance and… blunders that can only serve but to increase their bosses' political liability net value" is in itself blunder of perception and fallacy of hasty non factual conclusion. It is more or less an act of "bad belle" and needless misplaced hostility towards the good will intended by the trio. If they had any ulterior motive like many others who fraternized in hiding, talks about it would have been in circulation. Nothing is hidden under the sun. Just like Atiku's visit to Calabar, his warm felicitations and dinner with the governor doesn't mean Atiku has been endorsed by the Governor, so also is Sowore's harmless visit, a town hall meeting with youths and I think attendance was beyond party lines and portfolio.'
