The State Security Adviser (SSA) to the Governor of Cross River State, Mr. Jude Ngaji has assured Online Media Practitioners Association of Nigeria, OMPAN, Cross River State chapter of partnership.
The SSA made this known recently when a team of OMPAN-CRS members paid him a courtesy call at his office in Calabar. According to him, the partnership will help curb crime in the state as well as sensitise the people by providing relevant information at needed time.
Mr. Ngaji also said that online media has helped reduce the cost of accessing information at a much faster and reliable way. 'A lot of us have realised that we don't spend money buying newspapers again because of the online media; it's speedy and fast. In online, we expect that before taking the information to the mainstream media, you have already fed the public', he said.
Speaking on how the rate of crime in the state has reduced drastically, SSA Ngaji said certain measures have been put in place to address the issues of robbery, cultism, communal clashes, and others. 'We are curbing crime because we have setup a team to go to every LGAs to sensitise the people by signing a pact between the warring communities.
'The State Governor, Senator Ben Ayade has also approved more vehicles to Security operatives. The police is getting properly reformed and the public has done well too by providing us with necessary information.
'We have been swift in our response towards distress calls and the intelligence aspect has been refined too. Security is all about intelligence, —you just need to step up your plans, investigate thoroughly to ensure innocent people are not charged for nothing', Mr. Ngaji said.
Lauding the efficiency of OMPAN and their role in the society, Mr. Ngaji assured, 'We are going to partner with you. We will feed your office with necessary information to balance your reportage'.
Speaking also was the OMPAN-CRS chapter, Comrade Efio-Ita Nyok who in agreement promised the SSA of professionalism in the Association's reportage so as to elevate the state and not tarnished her image.
He added that, 'the partnership will go a long way as it'll help us guide the society and not mislead them. We will continue to feed your office with relevant information, since we are always in the field to ensure Cross River State maintain its peaceful status'.
