Although Calabar as a trio ethnic home for Efik, Efut and Quas has always been known and identified with moral decency/socioeconomic pride, particularly with reference to her natural cleanness, serenity, hospitality and aesthetic beauties, the story of evilness (ritual killings, armed robbery, cultism, whoring or prostitution etc) as we now witness in her omen, remains a mystery to her natives, lovers, ancestors and gods.
As an Efik blue blood that was born and bred in the heart and soul of this "Canaan City of Africa" or Calabar, the Capital of Cross River State, Nigeria, never was it envisaged that Calabar at any point in history would be so derogated, stereotyped or slurred by the excess presence of prostitutes (harlots, courtesans) in her loins.
Pained by this misnomer, this post draws critical attention and need for urgent public intervention to save Calabar from death in the hands of those whose inimical trade add no moral [developmental] value to her well being. It is written with scientific basis from experiential knowledge.
Officially named Commercial Sex Workers (CSW) by law and NGOS, this "whoredom city demons", drawn from all over Nigeria, in diverse shapes, age, colour and social learning backgrounds are not only part of the fortune destroyers of CRS, but eye sores and nuisance at strategic locations, hotels and night clubs in Calabar.
Worse even is the fact that many of the CSW are young pretty women of marriage age, many of whom are University graduates/students, school drop outs, aliens and "skolombresses" (my invention for street female children imported into CRS for personal business reason by a former sleeping governor's wife).
Sadly too is the fact that these evil spirits in human forms not only turn nights to day by competing with witches in their collaborations with ritualists, cultists, area boys cum armed robbers to do mayhem to unguided male and female patrons (lesbians), but equally help to reduce the values of our Five Star Hotels like Transcorp, Channel View, Axari et al to enjoyment places/lodges for all comers servicers of top politicians and government functionaries, including Senators, Chairmen, Commissioners, appointees and state legislators at home and away.
At present, ATEKONG JUNCTION, PALADIUM, MCC BY PEARL SUITES, CHANNEL VIEW HOTELS, FLOUR MILL JUNCTION, BEDWEL etc top chart in the list of major hubs for prostitutes in Calabar and their service charges range from N1000 – 2,500 SHORT TIME (ie. Less than 1hr rushed fuck in nearby bush, hide out, motel or car), to N 5,000 – N50,000 All Night or full Service that begins very late after clubbing from 2am till 5 am, excluding hotel bills and other special treat expenses borne by interested patrons).
Of course, if patrons are unlucky to meet Igbo, Delta, Ijaw, Warri or Akwa Ibom girls with juju or charms , including mammy water, they will truly learn great lessons in sorry stories. Such prostitutes may drug and steal your money if you are seen to be cash loaded or knock hell out of your dick with drug enhanced sex.
