The presidential candidate of of the Social Democratic Party, SDP in the 2019 general elections billed for 23rd February and 9th March this, Mr Donald Duke, has endorsed the gubernatorial candidature of the Social Democratic Party in Cross River State, Mr Eyo Ekpo Esq NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
The former governor of Cross River did this last week during St. Valentine’s Day in Calabar while being hosted on the 3rd edition of the social media livestreaming session, Facebook Live with Eyo Ekpo.
Duke who observed he is endorsing Eyo not necessarily because he’s a member of the SDP, noted that he has interacted with the latter and knows his abilities. He expressed confidence in the abilities of both Eyo and Wofai to recover the state from misgovernance.
His words, ‘You know, since 2007 I have not categorically endorsed any candidate. I did in 2007; in 2011 I held back; in 2015 I did not, this one I am.
‘I know Eyo Ekpo: I’ve worked with him, I have interacted with him, I know where his heart lies, I know his abilities —He will recover our state, and he will restore our state. That is one assurance I give you.
‘I will come out, I will campaign for him, not because he is a candidate of SDP, no! Because he is Eyo Ekpo; I have confidence in his team along side with Wofai.
‘This gentlemen know what it took for us to get to where we were in 2007, they have the ethic, their head is screwed on, they know exactly what is required to do.
‘It’s not a play thing —Being governor is not a fun thing, where you come and dance Shoki; no, it’s hard work: what we owe our nation is to ensure that we put our best foot forward so that we stop being a joke on the continent, a global one at that.
‘Vote for SDP and the team of Eyo Ekpo and Wofai Ewa, that’s the team that will recover and restore Cross River State. We’ve wallowed for too long in mediocrity’.
