Civil servants in the Cross River state are beginning to express serious concern over failure of the state government to pay monthly salaries for the month of March as at 28th March NEGROIDHAVEN has confirmed.

The Executive Governor of Cross River, Sen. Prof. Benedict Ayade has a penchant for authorising payments of monthly remuneration to state civil servants on or before 25th of every and any month. For instance, for February 2019, civil servants received credit alert on the 22nd day of the month.
An anonymous elderly male civil servant, yesterday, while complaining about the development on phone to another colleague who called to inquire said, ‘I have not received alert yet ooo. We are expecting that before the day runs out, we will hear something positive’. A female civil servant would complain thus: ‘They have not paid me until now. Today is 27th already. Hmmm!’. A much younger staff of the state civil service pleading anonymity said, ‘That your wayo governor will not pay me, right? Last month he paid on the 22nd. What’s happening now?’
Reasons why payments have not been made is yet uncertain. Phone calls made the Honourable Commissioner for Finance, Mr Asuquo Ekpenyong Jnr were neither received nor returned.
