The Cross River State Ministry Of Health has launched the Second Cross River State Strategic Health Development Plan (CRSSHDP II) and Brief on Health Systems Documents to create and sustain a professionally run health service aimed at delivering the best possible care to the Cross River State people nearest to where they live and work.
‘The Second strategic plan will create enabled Environment for Attainment of Sectoral Goals, Increased Utilization of Essential Package of Health Interventions,and Strengthened Health System for Delivery of Package of Essential Health Services, Protection from Health Emergencies and Risks, and Predictable Financing and Risk Protection Health care financing.
The plan is articulated within the framework of the second National Strategic Health Development Plan and informed by the health objectives of Vision 20:2020, the Medium Term Economic Recovery and Growth Plan (ERGP), the National Health Act (NHAct), the National Health Policy 2016 and Cross River State Policy 2016.’ Dr. Inyang Asibong, Commissioner for Health
The vision of the document is to have the best quality and most accessible health care system providing effective and efficient services that address all health needs in the State. Furthermore, plan is divided into five Strategic Pillars which addresses fifteen Priority Areas, targets fifteen Goals and designed to address forty Strategic Objectives of the health sector.
The event had in attendance an array of healthcare professionals from across the State including the Chairman House Committee on Health in the State House of Assembly; Hon. Ekpo Ekpo Bassey, the Director General of the Cross River State Primary Healthcare Development Agency; Dr. Betta Edu, the Permanent Secretary of the State Ministry of Health; Dr. Joseph Bassey, the WHO Health Advisor; Dr. Moses Ongom, and the WHO State Technical Officer; Dr. Daniel Salihu, who took turns to air their support and also adopt the policy as a road map to a sustainable healthcare development in the State.
