Governor Ayade approves DOPT proposal to construct central park in Calabar

In order to decongest traffic inside the city, Senator Professor Ben Ayade the Cross River State governor has approved the proposal by the Department of Public Transportation, DOPT, for the construction of a central park in Calabar.
The central park which is to be located before the Picolo Bridge close to the North West filling station would accommodate vehicles from outside the state and northern part of the state.
The park which is an idea of the DOPT as an addition to the several initiatives by the department under the leadership of its new Director General,Comrade Godwin Nyiam would greatly transform the outlook of the city.
In the same vein, the department is making plans to reintroduce the state owned mass transit, Cross Lines which is currently defunct.
Arrangements are being made with investors by the department with Chinese investors to actualise the plan
Comrade Nyiam who commended the governor for the speedy approval of the two initiatives said thousands of jobs would be created to accommodate young men and women in the state.
In his words " Our Digital Governor has innovative ideas on how to develop this state and these projects in addition to expanding the frontiers of business will greatly help our people".
He assured that the department will continue to live up to its mandate of safeguarding lives by making roads in the state safe
