May 29 Inauguration: APC Cross River Felicitates with Buhari, urges President to involve party in appointments.
Ahead of the May 29 official inauguration of President Muhammadu Buhari for a second term in office, the All Progressives Congress in Cross River State has felicitated with the President stating that the Nigerian Leader deserves the commendation of most Nigerians for showing leadership at different instances in spite of daunting challenges.
The party recalled that the change mantra of President Buhari has yielded positive impact on Nigerians in many ways and especially in the fight against corruption and insecurity as well as in achieving economic and socio- political stability in the country.
The party's message which was contained in a press release signed by the State Publicity Secretary of the party, Mr. Bassey Ita quoted the State Acting Chairman, Sir John Ochala as saying that President Buhari has severally resisted attempts to compromise on the efforts to make Nigeria great again.
Ochala said the tendency of corrupt and evil persons to get the President veer off course notwithstanding, Buhari has remained resolute and focused to fix the missing link in Nigeria's development index.
The Chairman remarked that the President has through exemplary, purposeful and honest leadership in the last three plus years resolved the leadership crisis which had hitherto been the bane of the nation's development.
He therefore urged the President to ignore fifth columnists who would advise him wrongly on the issue of appointments and urged him to go for men and women of integrity who have impeccable records standing for them.
The party Chairman said "this is the only way the NextLevel agenda of Mr. President will impact even more positively on Nigerians than what men and women of poor showings in character and records will achieve."
Ochala however advised the President to get the national leadership of the party involved in selecting and recommending such men and women of integrity and hard work for appointments since the party has a national appeal that knows the antecedents of the various gladiators.
"To do a thorough scrutiny of those who would form the NextLevel cabinet, the President should engage the party. The party would then beam its searchlight on integrity, honesty, commitment service, records of previous performance in any position of public trust or responsibility among others and recommend accordingly," he maintained.
The party Chairman also remarked that though the President has a discretion to choose whom he desires into his cabinet but "it would be a great service and respect for the party to be so involved" as according to him "the party has the responsibility of offering the best that meets the desires of the President and the demands of the times."
Ochala also urged the President to consult widely before making the appointments adding that those with abysmally poor performance in their current positions should not be allowed to return to office.
The party ones again congratulated Buhari for his emergence at the February 23 polls and prayed God's guidance,greater wisdom and the strength in the task ahead.
