The Cross River State House of Assembly has announced an emergency meeting for today, Tuesday, June 25, 2019.
The message is contained in a release by the Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the assembly, Mr Hope Obeten, which states that the meeting of the parliament is to address ' a matter of urgent public interest, to meet with relevant stakeholders in the petroleum sector, to resolve the lingering issue which has led to the current fuel scarcity ' in the state.
It could be recalled that penultimate week, an undue scarcity of petroleum products was experienced by motorists and commuters in Cross River State, reports had it that the scarcity was following a fallout of election crisis in the petroleum products marketers' union.
According to Mr Obeten, the Speaker of the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly, Hon. Eteng Williams considers the well being of Cross Riverians paramount and as such, the lingering scarcity of petroleum products in the state which has brought untold hardship to the citizenry should be attended to immediately.
