Tribunal orders rerun for Abi State constituency

CALABAR -Panel Two of the State, National Assembly and Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal in the 2019 elections on Thursday sacked a member of the Cross River State House of Assembly for Abi State Constituency and ordered a rerun NEGROIDHAVEN can say authoritatively.
The panel headed by Justice A. A. Babawale declared the election of Dr  David Etta of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, null and void while ruling in a petition by Iwara Inah, the All Progressives Congress, APC candidate  in the election alleging electoral malpractices, noncompliance with the 2010 electoral guidelines by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, while conducting the election on March 9, 2019.
She said votes in fifteen polling units numbering ten thousand four hundred votes which were cancelled could decide if victory could go one way or the other among the candidates. 
Justice Babanwale ordered a rerun to be conducted in the fifteen polling units within ninety days and called for the withdrawal of the Certificate of Return given to the PDP candidate.
The Abi State Constituency is the home of Senator Liyel Imoke former governor of the state and a PDP stakeholder.
