20 November 2019
The former chairman of the Inter Party Advisory Committee IPAC in Cross River state, Goddy Akpama, Tuesday warned the 9th Cross River State House of Assembly against screening the three commissioner nominees sent to the state legislature for screening NEGROIDHAVEN can report authoritatively.
He made this solemn warning through a social thread he titled ‘On those three Commissioner nominees!’ which was cited by our correspondent.
Akpama argued that the nomination did not obey the principles of inclusive representation and federal character as enshrined in the country’s constitution. He queried why Gov Ben Ayade would send only three names from three local government areas when the state could boast of eighteen LGAs.
His words, ‘My advise to the House is that if they truly represent the wishes and interest of the people, they should not go ahead to screen the 3 persons!!
‘The principle of inclusive representation should be enshrined in our State as done at the National level.
‘It would appear the governor has the singular ability of beating himself to breaking records of introducing ideas and actions that defy reasonable thinking.
‘The question we should ask is, on what basis is the governor sending names from just three local governments to be confirmed as commissioners in a state that has 18 local government areas?
The Constitution recognises the character principle, coming up with this kind of development that only shows a skewed thinking months after coming on board without constituting his cabinet, with no excuse, makes one afraid at the way the mind of our Chief Executive works’.
Continuing he said ‘CRHA help your people. The whole state is in crisis. There is no food on the table. There is so much talk and no corresponding action on ground. Where are the industries? For our people to seek work???Where are the factories? Our people need jobs? Let them fish for themselves not to continue to be given fish! (Food on the table) Do something Mr Governor????
‘When we say all these, they come after our lives. No one shall live forever. God’s time is the Best.. We shall all not go jail for speaking the truth to save this state
Cross Riverians are suffering sir.
‘CRSHA wake up…’ it reads in part.
Recall that the Governor of Cross River state, Prof Ben Ayade, through the office of the Secretary to the State Government sent a letter dated 14th November, 2019 to the Cross River State House of Assembly nominating three persons as Commissioners.
The persons are Barr Tanko Ashang, Mr. Peter Egba and Mr. Asuquo Ekpenyong from Obanliku, Obubra and Odukpani local governmentareas respectively.
Though no portfolio has been attached yet, it was gathered the House of Assembly will invite them for confirmation: https://www.negroidhaven.org/2019/11/breaking-gov-ayade-forward-names-of-3.html?m=1.

Also recall that Akpama had criticised Ayade for replacing the state EXCO with what is referred as a taskforce: https://www.negroidhaven.org/2019/07/goddie-akpama-flays-ayade-over.html?m=1
