Senator Prof. Ben Ayade,
Executive Governor
Cross River State.

Sir,

DESPERATE LETTER TO THE GOVERNOR OF CROSS RIVER STATE

Your Excellency, I write to congratulate you on your victory at the Federal High Court, Abuja. And also bring to your notice some problems rocking our People in the State.

Sir, I have always remained a strong believer of the philosophy the Ayadeism and a true advocate of your project but there are many things troubling me in recent time as regards the development of our State.

Your emergence as Governor is a clear testimonial that God is with you, right from your campaign days to your emergence as Governor and your recent victory at the Federal High Court Abuja. It truly shows that you are the shining light of our State.

As a business mogul turn politician, our People believe in your enigmaticism and your ability in managing the meager resources of the State.

Sir, before you appoint your cabinet i have decided to send this very timely and desperate letter to you before some desperate politicians tarnish your hard earned reputation and integrity. Sir, my heart bleeds with so much pain.

The People of the State who voted for you expect so much from your administration. The peace loving People of Cross River State are waiting eagerly for you to hit the ground running. The Cross River People are not ready for excuses , they want the job done and the State moved to greater heights. Sir, you made mentioned that you inherited a State with so much potentials and not a broke State. Our People are suffering and are in abject poverty. The People of the State expect and hope that you harness those potentials the State has to the benefit of all and sundry by bringing the best hands who will help you in actualizing your dream for good of the Cross River People.

Let me bring to your notice that Cross Riverians are now very impatient especially the Local Government workers and pensioners who are owed for several months without pay. Sir, it is very unfortunate that our workers are owed for several months without their salaries. In as much as i commend you for paying salaries every 25th of the month, i urge you to speedily look into the salaries of Local Government workers and Local government pensioners in the State who are owed their pension and gratuity for months and years.

My Governor, as you get set to appoint your cabinet, i know very well that there will be pressure from your party and people who believe they worked for you. Sir, i plead that you should not be afraid to appoint men and women of integrity and who can deliver your campaign promises to the People of the State. In doing so, you may step on toes but do not be afraid. What matters is putting Cross River State in the comity of leading States in the world. Trust, me no evil shall befall you as long as you do the right thing in the best interest of the People of the State.

Sir, in recent times, a lot has been said about your signature projects and advertisement have also been placed on national dailies and radio and television on the garment factory which is part of your signature project.

My Governor, a lot of question has being asked about the signature projects. Many have asked the funding of the project, the interest rate and also the bank guarantying the projects. Sir, for clarity, it will be advisable that you brief our People more on the signature projects .
You made mentioned that the garment factory would be completed before your first 100 days in office. I will advise that you take your time so that you do not get into a pitfall. A proper plan should be made and not rushing the garment factory.

My Governor, you recently accompanied the President on a State visit to Cameroon, the People of the State wish and pray that your new romance with the President would yield positive fruits. Our People seek that the "Super High Way" be discussed with the President and that Federal Government assistance be given in order for you to execute this lofty dream which is of great importance to our State.

The burden before you is heavy, l will advise that you diversify into Agriculture and solid minerals in order to ease the over reliance on the Federal Allocation which can not solve all our problems. Agriculture and vocation and technical education for our women will go a long way in ameliorating the sufferings of our women and children. Our women will pay taxes from the income they generate and government also is such of revenue from them. I advise that a lot be given to Agriculture as it pertains rubber, cocoa, cassava and palm oil in the State.

Sir, during last general the elections you encountered a lot of problems and many of our party men and women are still aggrieved. I will advise that you quickly bring all the gladiators and see how you can apply some balm on frayed nerves. The State apparatus is wide enough to accommodate many. It will be advisable that you surround yourself with both young and old. Technocrats who can look you in the eye and say the bitter truth no matter how bitter. Most of our leader fell and failed because they fell victims of scammers and jobbers.

Sir, another very essential an important institution of government that needs urgent attention is the Judiciary. I plead you should immediately resolve the problems in the Judiciary and our courts reopened again because the court is believed to be the last resort of the common man.

As you kick start fully, l plead with you to build a cordial relationship with the Legislature and do every within your power to see to the fact that they are happy with you Sir. A good relationship with them will help a lot if you must take the State to the next level of our developmental struggle.

I trust that God has chosen you to work for the good of our State at this time as a clear example for others to emulate. Use it to the benefit of mankind.

Once again Congratulations on your victory. May God help and bless you!
