With the advent of the new year (and the expiration of 2015) 2016, public figures in the state are wont to wish their numerous fans the best of wishes for the maiden year.
One of such public figures was the grand monarch and Edidem of the Efik of Calabar, namely, Edidem Ekpo Okon Abasi Otu V, who took to his Facebook account to wish his Efik subjects a happy new year.
In his exact words, His Royal Eminence said:
'Happy new year to every Nigerian and people around the world most especially to all my Efik people, May
the blessing of the Lord protect and prosper us all.'
