The recent communal land boundary  clash ongoing between the Ochienyim community of Ikwo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and the Adadama community of Abi Local Government Area of Cross River State, which has taken about two lives and seen the razing of ten homes, evidently prompted the Speaker of the Cross River State House of Assembly(CRSHA), Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo who incidentally represent Abi State Constituency in CRSHA to submit amongst other things that the essence of democracy is to 'care basically about the welfare of its citizen and also protect the Welfare of their Security'. What follows is the leading law makers surmising on what he titled:

*When Democracy can Make Sense

Since the end of the first World war and the American public trust with Austria. Democracy was credited to be a model of Governance that will provide and protect the Welfare of its citizen.

I think it is critical that we understand that Democracy was to care basically about the welfare of its citizen and also protect the Welfare of their Security.
That is the only way Democracy can make sense.

The strength of the political parties, the popularity of the candidates is good, but it can only make/add to the competitive advantage in Democratic sense if and when, the the welfare and security of the Citizen is bottom line.

The whole essence of the Citizen Agenda policy is to make the welfare of the Citizen, the new Democracy. I have been reading the book, "Democracy, the god that failed " and I agree with the learned Author that the new Democracy is here.

Every Economic Agenda or blue print of a government is important and duration only if it becomes a conveyor belt to facilitate the actualisation of the welfare and security of the beneficiaries of democracy, who are the real investors in the democratic economy.

Rt. Hon. John Gaul Lebo
Speaker
Cross River State House of Assembly
26 March 2016.

We are imploring the Honourable Speaker to transcend social media ruminations to translating thought into actions and seeing to it that the recent crisis between the Adadama and Ochienyim communities be resolved in real time and space. Besides, the Speaker has already demonstrated that the essence of democracy is to secure the welfare and security of lives of the citizenry.
