Dr Mike Ushie's State Independent Electoral Commission (SIEC) on 4th May suspended the Cross River State Local Government elections which was originally billed for 17 June.
It has cited the ongoing Independent Electoral Commission (INEC) 27th April to 25th July Continuous Voters Registration exercise as the reason for the suspension.
However, it has been suspected that Ushie's explanation is bogus seeing that the PDP in the state is yet to conduct primary over the decision of the governor especially taking into consideration the Yet-to-be decided Supreme Court judgment on the Makarafi Vs Sheriff PDP Chairmanship tussle.
